Nyelvelős hét
A nyelvi hét idegen nyelvi programjait az idei tanévben nagyon nagy érdeklődés övezte. A hétfői brit és amerikai angol kulturális teszt kitöltésére 18 négy fős csoport jelentkezett.
Kedden a német fordító versenyen 14 egyéni versenyző volt, akiknek egy zürichi rendhagyó iskoláról kellett szöveget fordítaniuk németről magyarra, szótárhasználattal. Szerdán angol szépkiejtési verseny volt, ahol egy választott verset vagy prózát, illetve egy kötelező szöveget kellett felolvasniuk. A kötelező szöveg Nathaniel Hawthorne: The Scarlet Letter (A skarlát betű) művéből volt (a részlet alább olvasható). A diákok változatos részleteket hoztak, többek között T. S. Elliot, Edgar Allan Poe verseiből, Tom Sawyer: Huckleberry Fynn, Jane Austen: Pride and Prejudice, Charles Dickens: A Chrismas Carol, Jack London: The Call of the Wild műveiből.
Csütörtökön angol és német versenyt rendeztünk. A német országismereti versenyen 14 három fős csoport, valamint az angol fordító versenyen is szép számban jelentek meg. Az eredmények hirdetésére a karácsonyi ünnepségen kerül sor.

God, as the direct consequence of the sin which man thus punished, had given her a lovely child, whose place was on that same dishonored bosom, to connect her parent forever with the race and descent of mortals, and to be finally a blessed soul in heaven!”
